Hospitality Minister (Usher & Greeter)
Hospitality Ministers are the "front porch" of our parish. They greet parishioners as they arrive, assist with seating, coordinate the offertory collection, and hand out bulletins. Because they are the first faces the assembly sees, a welcoming and cheerful disposition is essential for this vital role.
Lector
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during the Liturgy by reading the Old and New Testament scripture selections. They also welcome the congregation and lead the Prayers of the Faithful. This ministry is especially suited to those who have a love for Scripture and enjoy public speaking.
Sacristan
Sacristans work entirely behind the scenes to prepare the church for the celebration of Mass. Responsibilities include setting out the sacred vessels, bread, and wine, ensuring the liturgical books are set to the correct pages, and preparing the vestments and lighting. This role requires a reverence for the sanctuary and great attention to detail.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC)
Eucharistic Ministers assist the clergy in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to our parish family during Holy Communion. This deeply spiritual ministry is open to all fully initiated (confirmed) parishioners in good standing with the Church.
Altar Server (Youth)
Parishioners in the 4th grade and older are invited to serve our parish family at the altar. In this role, youth servers lead the community by carrying the processional cross and candles, and they assist the priest throughout the celebration of the Mass.
Adult Acolyte
Adult Acolytes serve a mature role on the altar, assisting the priest and guiding the flow of the liturgy. They carry the processional cross, hold the Roman Missal for the celebrant, and assist during the preparation of the gifts, providing a reverent example to our younger servers.
Musicians & Choir Members
Sacred music elevates our worship and helps the congregation pray. St. Thomas More has a variety of different choirs, ensembles, and instrumental opportunities. Whether you are a cantor, a choir singer, or a skilled instrumentalist, we welcome your musical talents.
Altar Linens Ministry
This quiet, essential ministry takes place entirely behind the scenes at home. Volunteers are responsible for collecting, washing, ironing, and folding the sacred linens used during Mass each week. It is a beautiful way to serve the parish on your own schedule.
Arts & Environment Committee
The Arts & Environment team works seasonally to enhance our worship space, ensuring the church interior reflects the liturgical calendar. Volunteers assist with floral arrangements, hanging banners, and decorating the sanctuary for major feasts like Easter, Pentecost, and Christmas.
Liturgical Ministries: Serve at the Altar
Every Sunday, our parish community gathers to encounter Christ in the Liturgy. It takes a dedicated team of volunteers working together to make our weekend Masses beautiful, welcoming, and reverent.
Whether you are drawn to public speaking, hospitality, behind-the-scenes preparation, or sacred music, there is a place for your unique gifts. Explore our liturgical ministries below and take the next step to serve.
