Plan Your Wedding at St. Thomas More

Welcome & Congratulations!

Congratulations on your engagement! We are overjoyed to walk with you as you prepare not just for your wedding day, but for a lifelong, holy marriage. In the Catholic Church, Marriage is a Holy Sacrament, a visible sign of God’s unconditional love for the world.

Because marriage is a sacred covenant, our parish is dedicated to helping you build a strong, faith-filled foundation. We invite you to review our steps, timelines, and resources below to begin planning your celebration here at St. Thomas More.

Step-by-Step Marriage Preparation Roadmap

Step 1: Contact the Parish (6–12 Months Prior)

Before booking a reception venue, contact the parish to confirm church and clergy availability. Diocesan policy requires couples to begin preparation at least nine months before their desired wedding date.

  • Action: Complete our online Wedding Inquiry Form below to get started.

Step 2: Initial Meeting & Intake

Once your form is received, you will meet with a parish priest or deacon. This initial conversation is to get to know you, discuss the sacramental meaning of marriage, handle preliminary paperwork, and officially place your date on the parish calendar.

Step 3: FOCCUS Inventory & Marriage Prep

You will complete the FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding, and Study) inventory. This online tool helps you and your fiancé highlight your communication strengths and discuss areas of growth with a trained sponsor couple. You will also participate in a diocesan-approved marriage preparation program (such as a retreat weekend or parish classes).

Step 4: Liturgy & Music Planning (2–3 Months Prior)

A few months before your wedding, you will meet with Jylian Hudson (our wedding coordinator) to select your scripture readings, prayers, and sacred music. We will help you customize a beautiful, reverent liturgy.
