Grief Support
Care and Support Ministry
Our Care and Support Ministry has specially trained layperson's who enter into caring relationships with people who are going through a difficult time. Our Care and Support ministers have gone through the Befriender Ministry training program and maintain a strict policy of confidentiality. We are willing to visit people who are experiencing difficulties such as:
- going through a marital separation or divorce
- coping with a disability
- being seriously ill, hospitalized or homebound
- feeling lonely or depressed
- welcoming a new child through birth or adoption
- grieving the loss of a spouse, parent, child or other loved one
- a job loss, career transition or relocation
- empty nest or retirement
- providing home care for a loved one

Grief Support Groups
St. Joseph Medical Center offers two grief support groups on the second Thursday of each month: 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. The contact person is Rev. Evelyn Summers, 816-942-4400.
Grace Hospice offers a grief support group on the third Monday of each month at Villa Ventura, 12100 Wornall Road, from 6:15 - 8:00 p.m. For more information, call Grace Hospice at 816-444-4611.
